You've averaged less than 85 mg/dl of LDL your whole life. We won't recommend treatment; it's likely you'll get to 100 without ASCVD. If you really want to crush your LDL we can help you do it in the safest possible way, but believe that it's unnecessary and won't encourage any protocol.

Normal Cholesterol
You have slightly elevated LDL or other risk factors. Over half of people develop a life threatening plaque by 40. Your doctor is probably not helping you enough, and this is where we love to support patients.

High Risk
You have very high LDL, significant secondary risk factors or a 10 year risk over 7.5%. We'll immediately prescribe you a high intensity statin, it's the responsible moral thing to do. But nothing would make us happier than you working with your PCP, rather than us, they have a much larger set of tools for you.

Can I use my insurance to pay for the cholesterol test?
Unfortunately insurance doesn't pay for many reasonable cardiac interventions and tests.
For example insurance won't cover most APOb tests.
What is ApoB, and why is it important for assessing heart health?
ApoB is a protein that is part of LDL particles. An LDL cholesterol test can mislead us in understanding how much LDL is in your blood, so we use ApoB to make sure we're not missing potential risk factors.
What kind of interventions might be included in my health plan?
We build plans based on your biomarkers, age and intake quiz. Our plans are visible under the protocols tab on our site. Our plans are precisely crafted based on the most recent science to minimize your cardiovascular risk and also minimize potential side effects.
Can lifestyle changes be enough to manage high cholesterol, or are medications necessary?
Lifestyle can change cardiac risk, but even in the few cases that patients can are able to lower cholesterol it's rarely sufficient.
We'll never recommend medication if you don't need it. We also don't recommend continuing to take even another month of damage to your arteries that may potentially lead to a fatal heart attack when a safe drug could stop it.
How often should I retest my cholesterol levels?
We will suggest a retest cadence and follow up by email when it's time to take another test.
Generally we like to test every two months until we hit target cholesterol levels, and then retest less frequently afterwards.
